Empirical method:
A.1.1the test shall be conducted in an environment with a temperature of 25 ± 5ºC, relative humidity of 15%~90% and atmospheric pressure of 86 kpa ~ 106 kpa. The room temperature mentioned in this standard refers to 25 ± 2ºC
A1.1.2flat or rod heating device is used, and the surface shall be covered with ceramic, metal or insulating layer. Power requirements for the heating device are shown in table a.1. Complete the assembly of the test object and the heating device, the heating device shall have direct contact with the battery, the size of the heating device shall not be greater than the heated surface of the test object; install the temperature monitor, the temperature sensor of the monitoring point is arranged on the side away from the heat conduction, namely installed on the opposite side of the heating device (as shown in figure a.1).The sampling interval of the temperature data should be less than 1s, the accuracy requirement is ± 2ºC, and the diameter of the temperature sensor tip should be less than 1mm.

After charging the test object to soc = 100%, then charge the test object with 1c current for 12 min
Start the heating device immediately, and continuously heat the test object with its maximum power, in the event of thermal runaway or a.1.2 when the temperature of the defined monitoring point reaches 300ºC, stop triggering and turn off the heating device

A.1.3 the following are the conditions for determining whether a thermal runaway occurs:
A) the voltage drop is generated by the test object;
B) the temperature of the monitoring point reaches the highest operating temperature specified by the battery manufacturer;
And c) temperature rise rate dt / dºC / s t 1
When a) & c) or b) & c) occurs, thermal runaway is determined
A.1.4 during heating and within 1 h after the end of heating, the test shall be terminated
A.1.5 the test object shall not have a fire or an explosion
